Aero Ektar 178mm f 2.5 to a Speed Graphic

Normally the only shutter capable of accepting this lens is an Ilex #5. However the Ilex #5 shutter is limited to a 50th of a second exposure and with f2.5 lens, the faster the shutter speed, the better. Enter the Speed Graphic with the focal plane curtain shutter capable of speeds up to a 1/1000.

Commissioned by New York Photographer Matthew Turley, the adaptation included the custom retaining ring and spacer (black anodized aluminum), a lens board and custom rear lens cap. The camera's front standard also went through a minor modification to allow the rear cell of the lens to pass through the frame.
