Replacement Rails for Pacemaker Graphic Cameras

It happens… you begin to fold up your Graphic camera only to feel a little resistance and a small crack. It’s not uncommon to see the rear rails of a Graphic camera damaged by closing the camera without the front standard not being fully retracted.

These damaged rails can lead to a number of problems, including folding the camera up, rails “missing” each other, and out-of-wack rangefinders.

In this particular project, the rails were far gone (bottom left) and new rails were machined to take there place (top left). The original rails were made from a cast aluminum while the replaces are machined from an aluminum plate meaning a stronger part less likely to crack.
